NAC encourages applications from vision rehabilitation specialist to apply for On Site Peer Reviewers.  The benefit of being a reviewer is a nation-wide exposure to the people and the operating systems in our field.

Dear OSPR Reviewer Applicant:

Thank you for your interest in becoming an On-Site Peer Reviewer (OSPR) for the National Accreditation Council for Agencies Serving People with Blindness or Visual Impairment, (NAC). The reviewers are the backbone of the accreditation process which is designed to promote continual improvements of service quality and effectiveness.

As a reviewer, you will benefit from the nation-wide exposure to the people and the operating systems of the agencies or schools you are measuring against the NAC Standards. Typically, you are focusing on areas of service or business within you particularly professional experiences and expertise. Many professional in our field say that serving as an OSPR reviewer gives them far more benefits then the effort of preparation, travel, reviewing and report writing consumes. You would serve as a volunteer but your travel and lodging expenses are reimbursed.

In order to complete your application to become an OSPR reviewer, please fill out the Information Form attached and enclose you resume or curriculum vitae in your return mail addressed to Steven K. Hegedeos, Executive Director of NAC. Electronic communications is preferred: shegedeos@nacasb.org.

After your application has been processed, you will receive a complete set of NAC Standards. These Standards are the guide to the agencies and schools in the preparation of the Self Assessment document which becomes the main tool for reviewer during the OSPR visit. Your first couple of reviews will be under the tutelage of an experiences reviewer. All reviewers are encouraged to comment and recommend improvements to both the Standards and to the process as the consideration of critical issues might suggest.

Thank you again for your interest to dedicate your talents and time to a very important process promoting human endeavors in the field of vision rehabilitation.

Please contact the NAC office if you have any questions or need more information.
